Thanks CHgeek, but with your suggested changes there will be only one link from 7ks to 5ks.

From N7Ks you have 2 links to each N5Ks = total FP 4 links

With ECMP max 2 links you force ECMP down to two links and to make sure you have 1 connection to each N5K in ECMP you set the metric for one of each links to N5Ks higher.

With FP – the cost do not need to be adjusted if the links support the desired speed. Load balancing is automatically done. Hence ECMP. Messing with the cost can be tricky… I suggest changing ONLY if there’s a need to traffic engineer. Other than that – leave it alone

    Hi desertlotus,

the question asks you to make sure that from N7Ks one link of each N5K is elected to be in ECMP of total of 4 links.

    cheers

Does anyone agree or disagree? Did anyone do this?

UCS FI Question. So looking at the UCSM Equipment tab I noticed it can be either end-host mode or switching mode for BOTH ethernet and FC….

So my question is : What is the difference with respect to function and which is default and preferred for the lab.

In Endhost mode, the FI appears to be a single host with a lot of MAC addresses (and/or WWPNs) to upstream switches. This avoids things like spanning tree.

In switching mode, the FIs act as switches and participate in spanning tree, take an FC domain, etc. The two can be set independently.

Does anyone know of a way to pass a vlan on a trunk without allowing it? I tried setting the native vlan on both sides and removing the native vlan from the allowed list but it didn’t work.

permit all and remove the unwanted ones 😉

Example for permit vlan 100 without permit vlan 100:

no sw trunk permit (or sw tr permit all)
    and
sw tr allowed vlan remove 1-99, 101-4094

No more like you are explicitly told what vlans are allowed. Like only allow vlans X-X
